For the second year in a row, the prestigious research organization Automotive Science Group has named Mitsubishi both the Best All-Around Performance Brand and Best Economic Performance Brand based on its Automotive Performance Index study.
ASG’s Automotive Performance Index is designed to look beyond the factors we usually consider when comparing vehicles and instead examines the environmental and socioeconomic costs of individual vehicles and companies as a whole.
ASG found that Mitsubishi as a brand far outshines the competition in terms of corporate social responsibility, ethically sourced materials and labor, and value of its vehicles. ASG cited the high value of Mitsubishi vehicles, with low purchase price and cost of ownership without sacrificing state-of-the-art technology.
In addition to the Automotive Science Group Best Brand Awards for Performance and Economics, Mitsubishi took home several segment awards. Each segment had winners for Economic Performance, measuring cost of ownership; Environmental Ownership, measuring carbon footprint; and All-Around Performance, which compiled scores in all categories including social.
The tiny Mirage was the Best Economic Performance Car and the Best All-Around Performance Car for the subcompact hatchback segment, and the much larger Mitsubishi Outlander, Outlander Sport, and Outlander PHEV all made the 5 Best All-Around Performance SUVs list. The API study proved that across the lineup, Mitsubishi cars deliver an incredible balance of value, efficiency, and practicality.
